Crossing Oceans in a Yarmouth 23
David Matelicani's transatlantic solo voyage in Eileen of Avoca, his Yarmouth 23 #9, ended on 24 January when, 17 days after leaving the Cape Verde Islands, he reached the Brazilian coast. David had a good passage, trade-wind sailing in the great swells of the Atlantic Ocean. The best day's log was 105 miles, the worst 63 miles, with an average noon-to-noon run of 75 miles. For fifteen days, the boat was goosewinged on the same tack!
His Blog contains an entertaining account of his adventures and  of the trials, mishaps and pleasures of sailing a small boat across a large ocean, alone. You can read it here.

This is a video of the Yarmouth, well reefed down, as she was crossing Biscay. See how she just casts the waves aside with consummate ease as she carves her way through them !
